pepo & tom
Our aesthetic references come from pop, cinema and conceptual art. In our work there is a particular insistence on artistic expressions that appeared at a certain moment as something new, either because of their recent innovation or because of their decline: proto-TV, the first explorations of YouTuber culture, blogs, old technologies, the first raves, etc...
They were a resident project within the annual program of site-specific co-productions at Tecnopolis in 2023 and received the creation grant from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes in 2021 with Paraiso Fiscal.

This work was conceived in the post-pandemic context that emerged after the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. La Pulpería Mutualica was a space created with the aim of thinking about how we would organize ways of being together in the city of Buenos Aires. This was the first work presented there. At the time, making noise was impossible, so we invited anyone who wanted to come and share a moment of silence. This meant not being able to speak before, during or after the show. Our piece consisted of a chain of gags, games and choreographies performed in silence, brushing against mime, inhabiting satire, as frustrated clowns.

Pepo & Tom, anchored in listening and the absence of words, walk around the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve in the city of Buenos Aires.
In search of the river and of what manages to escape silence, shared gestures emerge along the way through the language of noises. Sound and performative ecologies are composed as a substrate for imprinting new meanings and imaginaries onto the mountains of rubble. Thus, an aural perception of inhabited spaces, their reverberations and their shared habitabilities gives rise to synesthetic sensations that place the relationship between space and time under question.

As a result of the Dance Program Residency at Tecnopolis, Pepo & Tom premiered iUNIVERSAL EMOUSHHHON. A work that experiments with the non-place, with the aim of moving through different contexts by creating performative expressions, sharing pre-recorded sounds, and changing clothes. This non-place was built from the exposure of an endless green. One day the program director told us: The endless green is Tecnopolis. An empty space that can contain whatever you want to do, as long as you bring the energy necessary to sustain it. Perhaps this was the greatest challenge for Pepo & Tom in this work: sustaining the exposure of the intimacy of their bond: letting the scene take over and accepting that when creating, sometimes it is better to lose (rather than win).

Paraiso Fiscal pres. La Golden Hour
As part of the Paraiso Fiscal collective, we were invited to take part in the Public Program for Performance - ArteBa, Buenos Aires 2021, curated by Diego Bianchi. We presented La Golden Hour, a durational performance that entered into dialogue with archival material from mass rave culture at the turn of the millennium in Argentina, with the emergence of the mythical parties at Pacha nightclub and the first Creamfields. This research was awarded a creation grant from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes.

In an invitation to invoke the Siluetazo (1983), an aesthetic-political action that managed to symbolize the disappearance and demand for the return alive of thousands of people disappeared during the last military dictatorship, curated collectively by Carla Barbero, Javier Villa and Guille Mongan, we created a shadow theater at Centro Cultural Recoleta. A sequence of metaphorical images as an exercise in rereading narratives and imaginaries of institutional violence and oppressed everyday life.

Presented as part of Plataforma DoceVeinticuatro at Centro Cultural Konex, and previously as a work in progress at Festival Farofa do Processo (São Paulo, Brazil) and at Nos En Vera (Buenos Aires), the work is composed through choreographic procedures and soundscapes within an architecture for six speakers. An exploration of spiraling time, mimetic communication and shared presence.

Within Fundación Cazadores' Instalar Danza program in Buenos Aires, we created a staging based on time and communication, at the margins of spoken language, where primary emotions and affects emerge and anticipate what we share as humanity. Brushing against the roughness of braided cotton, trafficking a secret among plastic hairs, they wander through a network of empty spaces that is nothing more than the excess of the possible. Between failure and disappointment, they reveal a complicity that extends through an apparently endless present, in an inconsequential time that piles up like garbage. A sketch of crossed-out and overwritten images and fictions. In the name of faith, disposable consumption and melancholy for the future.

Each exercise is a practice in itself, but from our perspective they all relate to the same question: How do we transform intentions into relationships? For us, working in performance means working among question marks, constantly testing knowledge and experiences and trying to move as far as possible away from finished conceptions of the world. The workshop aimed to share this sensitivity, this way of approaching practice, but above all it sought to compose together these ways of approaching, waiting, acting and composing.

In this workshop we set out to share some of what we had been researching in *Nou taim coreografis*, the residency we did at the beginning of the year at Nos en Vera. We thought of this encounter as an opportunity to open our conversation through a series of exercises in which we collectively addressed the movement of agreements and disagreements that shape forms. From simple instructions, we gradually complicated the ways bodies arrange and rearrange themselves in space. When is it necessary to stop? What forms of cooperation are needed to build a composition? ¿Jau dip is iour lov?

As part of the 6th edition of Plataforma Doce Veinticuatro, we were invited to lead a workshop to share some questions, procedures and tests that helped us compose the universe of Iteration No. 3, taking the opportunity to rethink and continue rebuilding a proposal with the challenge of being more than two. To highlight the subtle and messy details that allow us to build a movement in which differences communicate a way of being together. *Flyer design: Juso Mor
